The depot is located in Mattoon, Illinois, which is in East Central Illinois. The easiest way to get to the depot is of course by train. Amtrak trains 58, 59, 391, and 392 all stop at the depot.

The typical way to get to Mattoon for those traveling by car is to use I-57. Depending upon which direction you come from, North or South, you will exit I-57 at one of two exits. Either is fine, as the depot is located about equal distance from both.

Coming from the North, you will exit onto West Rt. 16 by taking exit 190B. Follow Rt. 16 until you get to 17th St. Then turn right. Go one block to the T-intersection and turn left. The depot is roughly 50 yards down this road and on the right. Please note that the depot is locked except around the arrivals of Amtrak’s Illini and City of New Orleans passenger trains.

Coming from the South, you will take exit 184 and want to turn left onto Rt. 45/121. Go under I-57 and follow Rt. 45 until you come to a T-intersection. Turn right and go one block to 17th St. Turn left onto 17th St. Go one block to the T-intersection and turn left. The depot is roughly 50 yards down this road and on the right.
