Attention all garden and plant lovers! Mark your calendar for May. The Coles County Historical Society is sponsoring the 2005 edition of the fun activity , Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30, from noon to 5:00 each day. The public is invited to a unique two-day event a the garden of Dr. Wesley Whiteside.

The GARDEN RAMBLER will find this normally tranquil garden considerably more active as vendors

While various speakers elaborate on topics sure to inspire those who garden and those who just love to enjoy them. Each year Dr. Wesley Whiteside; Botany Professor Emeritus at EIU painstakingly compiles a list of plants which he feels will be of particular interest. The list is published in a guide available to each visitor and the plants are correspondingly numbered along the many paths. This treasure hunt of sorts can lead you to many old garden favorites as well as some of the more rare varieties you might expect of a retired Botany instructor. Various nurseries, including the Hearthstone, Four Seasons Garden Center, Deline Farms and Rose of Erin will be on hand to sell plants and offer advice. Continued on Page Threeó
